Word Search - Healthy Placenta

A pretty nice placenta with very few calcifications (the tiny white areas - they feel like pebbles or grains of sand under a thin cloth). Posted by Picasa

So what makes calcifications form on a placenta?
Does calcification mean something different on a post term vs. a preterm placenta?
