Baby Today
Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 02:38PM The mama in the horsey photo down a couple of posts had her baby last night. This is her the same day (2 days ago). It was wonderful!
A beautiful autonomous waterbirth. She delivered her daughter into her hands alone. It really was so lovely to witness.
I have more pictures of her in the garden and with the animals; I'll publish some once I get them edited.
7 pound 2 ounce baby girl born at 1:04am.
Fabulous!

Sounds nice! Hopefully I'll have such a birth in August! This is the first time my dh will be deployed so I'll be catching myself with the midwives' guidance. I'm always so "in the moment" that I'll probably have to be told to reach down and take my baby! :)
Congratulations to your mama/client. Assuming you mean the wee hours of the 5th, I just had mine this morning also -- another waterbirth that was essentially unassisted. My (wonderful) midwife arrived 17 minutes before the baby did, just as I got into the birth pool! She could see that things were going fine (3-1/2 hours from start to finish), so she stayed hands-off other than giving me a little direction when I needed help for pushing out a 14" head more effectively. :)
My husband (it's his first, my second) just told his brother, "having the baby at home was just...really cool." Yeah, that.
Hooray!!! I was just thinking last night maybe she had her baby! I can't wait to see them. Lovely photo!
Alli, I did mean the wee hours!
Congratulations to you, too! HOPEFULLY, I will have my own computer back together in the next day or two and will be able to edit the pics and get some up.
Where can we see yours?
Congrats to the mama and Alli. Thank you! Reminds me, I used to read midwifery blogs for those beautiful life affirming birth stories.
;-)
It took me a bit to finally get some photos up, but here they are:

Man, I think I need to update my profile pic -- that one is from June 2006.
Thanks for the congratulations, all! NGMW, I have to thank you in many ways for my confidence with handling so much of the birth on my own -- reading during my pregnancy with Maya (in 2004) gave me a start to a feeling that there's no reason at all I can't handle birth! Yes, I'm glad my midwife was there, and I doubt I'd ever UC -- but to have her just "in the room" standing back (no internal checks even -- simply no time for them!) was amazing.
Yay for both births!! :)
Glad all is well.
