FB Inquiry: What Christmas Carol Drives You Bonkers?

NgM: “Jingle Bells(hilarious version!) for me... forbade it as the kids grew up, although “Little Drummer Boy” & “Rudolph” are close seconds/thirds.

BP: ‎"Santa Claus is Coming to Town." Dunno why. I guess it's the whole "He sees you when you're sleeping" thing.

DBH: “Santa Baby.”

KW: “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.” Totally freaked me out when I was a kid.

CM: Ugh, not a carol but a Christmas song called “Christmas Shoes.” (This is an hysterical video of the song.) I didn’t like it before my mom was dying and now that she is I dislike it even more; too sad of a song for Christmas.

CH: YES! Christmas Shoes!!! I HATE that song!

CH: Anything sung by the Chipmunks

EB: “Last Christmas (I Gave You My Heart).” (HAHAHAHAHA!!)

TC: little drummer boy- this one in particular- Little Drummer Boy. (by Richie Petrie

MC: I was in Ollie's discount store the other day and I swear they found every terrible version of every XMas song available on their store speakers. I wanted to run from there with my ears bleeding!

AHT: “Blue Christmas” by Elvis.....that man just drives me insane!!!

AC: Carol: “12 Days of Christmas.” (Funny as crap!) Song: “Last Christmas,” (Wham! Version. Blech.) and that song by Paul McCartney that goes "(Simply having a) Wonderful Christmas Time." Christmas is also depressing as hell.

NH: All of them! Laughing about “Christmas Shoes!” (Although not about your mom, I'm so sorry to hear that, Catie) My family and I always joke about it because it's such a ridiculous sappy song.

NL: “(The First) Noel”. (Poster’s name is Noelle.) Seriously, people, do not name your child after any popular song. (I almost named Aimee “Kyrie.”)

ACA: “Santa Baby”...Madonna's version... just.can't.stand.it.

AHT: My hubby and I were laughing at the ridiculousness of the “Christmas Shoes” song last night.

TO: Our kids have a Shrek CD of Christmas stuff. They love it. I have to limit it to one play per day or else I go nuts. It goes back in the Rubbermaid Christmas box as soon as the holiday is over!

AL: Alvin & the Chipmunks anything... eeeeks! (Mute your computer before you play this song.)

JD: This song called "The Man with All the Toys" by the Beach Boys - it makes me crazy!!!

RC: ”The (Little) Drummer Boy(This is the David Bowie/Bing Crosby version… absolutely surreal!)… a rum, pum, pum" boring!!!!

EE: I agree on the “Christmas Shoes(Fabulously hee-STER-ical!! Warning! Extremely vulgar.) one. Why they play it at all during a joyful time.

AC: “My Grown Up Christmas List.” (This is quite a touching version.) SO annoying, and I have yet to hear a good version. (And yes, that is not a carol either... but I am a dork and I love Christmas carols!)

NP: Love Chipmunks (sorry) - hate "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas." (Never, ever have even heard this song before this second! Oh, and hysterical version here, too.) Hate it!

JJ: “Sleigh Ride.” Gah. Nothing worse. (This version might help.)

ACA (again): OMWord...I just Googled “Christmas Shoes(Great art.)… yeah, you can add that to my don't like list.

SP: That song "Felice Navidad" played in stores sung by some guy whose fulsome and unctuous voice really grates on me. (It’s by Jose Feliciano.)

SHF: I hate that “Baby, It's Cold Outside” song. Bleh (Here’s the Glee version, including the actual video… lovely!) Also the “Christmas Shoes,” (A very strange Anime version of the song. Not sure if it’s supposed to be funny or not.) and YES about that Paul McCartney song (“Wonderful Christmas Time.”)

I have to confess the absolute joy I had creating this post! What a fun one to do. I haven’t laughed this much in ages. I hope it brings a snortylaugh to you, too.

Merry Christmas!

I don't like X-Mas music in general but I especially hate anything with a sexual double entente (Santa Claus is coming down my chimney tonight) or any redneck version where santa/mommy/daddy are drunk and/or cheating.

Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. Not only annoying, but it somehow gets stuck in your head in a neverending loop and you can't shake it.

All of them! And especially anything that I hear before Thanksgiving. I don't celebrate it, though, so I am biased.

oh no. The WORSE christmas carol happens to be this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mk4woNRD7NQ my children require that we listen to it at least once every few days throughout the christmas season. Ugh!

the modern ones-Jingle bell rock, santa baby, grandma got run over by a reindeer-they're just so STUPID and don't reflect most people's tender feelings of the holiday.

I really can't stand the BandAid song from 1984, "Do they know its Christmas/Feed the World" That song is just plain stupid! Makes me crazy.

Christmas Songs i detest: Anything by Cliff Richard!!!! Ugh! A Saviour's Day, Mistletoe and Wine, Millenium Prayer... There is no start to the man's talents. Also hate Mary's Boy Child and When a Child is Born (clearly written by a man who knows ZILCH about the process!)

Christmas choons I love: Wham!'s Last Christmas, Do They Know It's Christmas, Fairytale if New York... I love cheese. Favourite Carol is Stille Nacht (Silent Night in German) gives me chills.
